Character Building Workshop

To venture through the world of Alandra and explore its expanse, you will be required to create a persona for yourself. Along the way during your many adventures down the road, you will be joined by other companions, including guardians, and this post will give you a basic guideline for creating a character within the parallel realm upon which their world sits.

Name:
Your charcter's name should be human, elemental, or natural. No pet or "cute" names will be allowed for this adoptable, as the inhabitants of Alandra would tire of these names and eventually leave their companion. Think of something meaningful, and befitting of your character.
Affinity:
Every living thing is born with an affinity to at least one element, and it is usually reflective of its personality. You may choose from the elements below:
Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Lightning, Metal, Darkness, Light
Race (Class):
As in real life, there are many different races in Alandra. Elves, Forest Dwellers, Water Dwellers, Mountain Dwellers, Plainsfolk, Gypsies, Avians, and Royalty (though Royalty is rare and can only be earned through roleplay events). Where is your character from? What are their customs?
Elves generally live in fortified, yet elegant and gaudy parts of the Alandran world that are hidden and hard to reach. They like their peace and quiet, and being that they live forever, would rather not interact with the outside world, where they would have to deal with others getting sick, wounded, or even dying on them. Though Elves are very gentle, they are extremely judgmental, and do not trust others until they prove their loyalty or worth.
Forest Dwellers are generally solitary, creative minded individuals, though they can also be fierce warriors or hunters, as they have their surroundings to both inspire and shield them from intruders.
Water Dwellers are very generous and welcoming to travellers, and are usually very helpful in any situation.
Mountain Dwellers: While they are secluded and don't get many visitors, they are also usually very welcoming to travelers and ready to help those that are lost. They also spend much of their time reading the stars and mining for treasures.
City Dwellers are those that live within the walls of the fortified "Kingdoms" of Alandra. Those of this class are generally Traders and Merchants, serving the King or Queen and the common people of the city as best they can.
Plainsfolk: Plainsfolk are usually farmers or warriors. While they are weary to strangers, they will not turn away the wounded, the hungry, or the faint of heart.
Gypsies: Gypsies are travelers, staying in closely knit bands and keeping to themselves. They are scavengers, storytellers, healers, stargazers, artists, musicians, thieves, and fortune tellers.
Avians: Avians navigate the skies, and live above the rest of Alandra, safe in their sky towers and floating fortresses. Much like the elves, they are generally withdrawn from the rest of Alandra and are usually not aware of it's problems unless they decide to wander outside of their own home.
Royalty: There are many kingdoms in Alandra, and every kingdom needs a form of government to maintain order. While the royalty of Alandra generally looks out for the well being of it's inhabitants, there have been rumors that there are a few kingdoms that are suffering under the leadership.
Shapeshifter are generally wanderers, roaming from place to place. Shapeshifters generally have two to three forms, but keep the same basic appearance in each form- the most common shapeshifters are Humans, Vicari, Momaru, Silphian, and Vilya.
Wanderers don't stay in one place for very long, and they often justify their behavior by saying silly things like "I feel like I am being called by the open road". Wanderers are very free-spirited and carefree, and cannot be "held down" by any one person.
Elders are Alandrans that have been around since before the fall of Raithe. They carry on the Legend of Alandra and Alias and preserve its cultural history. The class of Elder is not available to anyone, unless your character is written into Alandra's backhistory, do not ask.

Everyone has to contribute to society somehow! Pick a logical occupation for your character, similiar to any of the following:
Blacksmith, Farmer, Fortune Teller, Market Tender, Fisherman, King, Queen, Princess, Prince, Navigator, Seamstress, Seamster, Housewife, Slave, Knight, Knightess, Warrior, Hunter, Bounty Hunter, Scribe, Poet, Writer, Messenger, Aide, Healer, Spy, Archer, etc. (if you have a question about an occupation, feel free to ask)
Allegiance:
Of course, there is always more than one side. Not only are there many Kingdoms and Provinces in Alandra, but there are also allegiances to good and evil.
Where does thy allegiance lie?
Alias (the light) or Raithe (the dark)

Ability(ies):
These will develop over time, through roleplay, but for now, pick one or two depending on your character's Affinity (their element) and Occupation.
Personality:
What's a character without dimension? Here is a list of certain qualities that you should list of your character to help keep yourself in check:
Strong points (characteristically), Faults (characteristically), Quirks, Traits, Likes, Dislikes
History:
Make it short and sweet, but not over the top. Your character needs background, depth. Write a brief summary of their history, or what "makes them tick".
